Change is in the air!

Club Drama will be looking into a venue change, so our LAST Club Drama at The Uptown will be this coming Thursday, July 14th.

The Uptown is by far one of the greatest venues to work with in the East Bay! They have a superior sound system, generous dance floor, and who doesn't love that back patio? The owner, Larry, is very easy going and has been genuinely great to us! And we appreciate the entire staff of The Uptown for allowing us to get our feet off the ground and bring amazing music to The East Bay!

Do not fear Club Drama fans! We have a new venue under works, and the most exciting part is?????? *drumroll please..* It's likely we'll get a weekend night, so all the friends that have a hard time making it out on our regular Thursdays will be able to attend, and we'll be able to offer Club Drama to more of a variety of folks who wanna rock out on the weekends!

Thanks to all the folks that have made Club Drama possible! We can't wait for what's in store for you!

Club Drama Celebrates French Electro/Indie Sensation YELLE

Yelle is a French Electropop/Indie band founded by lead singer and namesake, Yelle (born Julie Budet on January 17, 1983) and GrandMarnier (Jean-François Perrier). A third member, Tepr (Tanguy Destable),joined the band before the recording of their debut album. The band came to prominence when they posted an early version of the song "Je veux te voir" on Myspace in September 2005, which later reached the top five in France. Their debut album, Pop Up was released in 2007.

Budet met and became good friends with producer GrandMarnier in 2000, and in 2005 they began making music together when both wanted to start a French electropop band. The name of the band, Yelle, began as an acronym of the phrase "You Enjoy Life", "YEL", but was later feminised to "Yelle" because a Belgian band was already using the former.Yelle rose to fame on MySpace when they posted a song titled "Short Dick Cuizi", which later became "Je Veux Te Voir", with their account in late 2005. It received a positive response and soon attracted the attention of record label, Source.

Yelle then began working on and recording their debut album, Pop Up in 2006,producer Tepr had been roped into the band after meeting GrandMarnier while working as a journalist.Yelle was featured on Fatal Bazooka's French number one song "Parle à ma main" in 2007.The band has enjoyed success outside of France despite making songs exclusively in French and have toured overseas in non-French speaking countries. They embarked on a full North American tour and also performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2008. After being asked by Katy Perry, they remixed her song "Hot n Cold". They later participated in the second installment of Itunes Foreign Exchange, for which they recorded a French version of Robyn's "Who's That Girl?".

Yelle's second album, Safari Disco Club, was released on March 14, 2011. The title track was released for free on their website in January 2011. They supported Katy Perry on her 2011 California Dreams Tour in th UK.

Join us at Club Drama on July 14th to celebrate the sounds of YELLE, with Resident DJ's Lifeline, Starr, and Daniel Skellington! This will be our LAST night at The Uptown. We are in talks with a couple different venues to move our night to a weekend. More to follow. Come out on July 14th to help us thank the staff from The Uptown for graciously hosting our party. See you on the dancefloor.
